Making it up as we go
One of the most important parts of this game is that we’re playing in an intentionally unfleshed out world. Players are encouraged to add detail to the world in writing here, but also on the fly during game sessions. This could be impromptu on their part, or in response to the GM’s questions. Basically, as long as it doesn’t directly benefit or hurt anyone (i.e. just fluff), then it should be allowed. Obviously, there is a sillyness threshold to consider as well – the tone of this game is old school RPG with a gritty feel, but that has its limits.
For example, in our preliminary talks, one of the players suggested that the Orcs should be notorious slavers. Done. Another one stated the elves have many lands and types of elves from noble to savage – each with its own agenda and culture. Perfect.
So fair warning: during the game you may be put on the spot and asked to fill in a detail about the world. When the GM asks you why Gnomes build their houses without windows, have an answer ready!
